Cognitive Skill Assessment

Background

Historically, most cognitive skill assessments have been provided by school psychologists or private clinics.

The assessment was done by a licensed professional in person.

Testing could involve several different instruments and take hours, sometimes up to one day.

Testing was limited due to cost.

Most parents are not even aware of the topic so are not seeking an assessment.

Most parents are aware of the importance of an eye or hearing exam to make sure vision or hearing issues are not impacting their child's ability to learn properly.

However, unless motivated by unusual circumstances, most parents are not aware of the importance of evaluating cognitive skills for their children. If their school will not do an assessment, most will not know where to go to find help. Many will not be able to afford the cost.

Knowing the cognitive skill profile for a student who struggles in school may be the single most important factor for understanding the underlying causes of the struggle, and more importantly, finding a solution.

One of the leading clinical brain training companies developed their own cognitive skill assessment. A paper version has been in use continuously in centers across the nation for over 30 years. CogRead teamed with this company to develop an online version.

This version has gone through several development cycles and undergone validation studies. It is now in use in over 100 clinics worldwide.
